CAMO.A.015 requires that an organisation seeking a Part-CAMO approval must submit a formal application to the competent authority, including all documentation needed to demonstrate compliance.
What it means in practice
Before a Part-CAMO approval can be granted, the applicant must submit a completed application to the competent authority in the form and manner that authority prescribes. The application must be accompanied by the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME), which describes the organisation's structure, procedures, and resources. This exposition is the cornerstone of the approval process because it demonstrates how the organisation intends to comply with every requirement of Part-CAMO.
The application must clearly specify the scope of work the organisation intends to perform, including which aircraft types or categories will be managed. The competent authority uses this information to plan its assessment activities and determine whether the organisation has the capability to meet the requirements.
Key requirements
The application must include the CAME, details of the proposed scope, personnel information including the nominated persons, and evidence that the organisation has the facilities and resources to manage continuing airworthiness. The competent authority will conduct an initial assessment, including an on-site audit, before granting the approval.
Common compliance gaps
Incomplete applications are a common cause of delays. Organisations frequently submit a CAME that does not adequately describe procedures for all Part-CAMO requirements, or they fail to demonstrate that qualified personnel are in place before the competent authority begins its assessment.
