CAMO.A.065 states that a Part-CAMO organisation must not exercise its privileges when it becomes aware that it no longer complies with the applicable requirements, and that the competent authority may impose additional limitations on the approval.
What it means in practice
The organisation has a duty to self-limit when it identifies that it cannot meet the requirements of Part-CAMO. If a key nominated person resigns and no qualified replacement is available, or if essential resources become unavailable, the organisation must voluntarily restrict its activities until compliance is restored. This self-awareness is a fundamental aspect of the safety culture expected under Part-CAMO.
The competent authority may also impose limitations on the approval at any time if it determines that the organisation does not fully meet all requirements. These limitations could restrict the scope of managed aircraft types, remove the ARC issuance privilege, or impose other operational restrictions.
Key requirements
The organisation must have internal processes to identify when it is no longer in compliance and must take prompt action to restrict its activities accordingly. Any limitations imposed by the competent authority must be complied with immediately and recorded on the approval certificate. The organisation must not resume full activities until the competent authority confirms that compliance has been restored.
Common compliance gaps
A common issue is organisations failing to recognise situations that should trigger a voluntary limitation, such as losing a nominated person or experiencing a significant increase in workload without a corresponding increase in resources. The cultural reluctance to self-report limitations can lead to more serious findings during audits.
