CAMO.A.205 requires the organisation to hold and use current and applicable airworthiness data for the continuing airworthiness management of each managed aircraft, including type certificate data, airworthiness directives, and approved maintenance data.
What it means in practice
The organisation must have access to all airworthiness data relevant to the aircraft it manages. This includes the type certificate data sheet, supplemental type certificates, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, the aircraft maintenance manual, the illustrated parts catalogue, and any other data necessary for the development and control of the maintenance programme. All data must be current, meaning the organisation must have a process for receiving and implementing revisions.
Managing airworthiness data effectively requires a subscription or access arrangement with the type certificate holder and relevant authorities. The organisation must be able to demonstrate that it has identified all applicable airworthiness data for each managed aircraft and that this data is being used to maintain the maintenance programme and manage continuing airworthiness.
Key requirements
The organisation must hold or have access to all current applicable airworthiness data. A process must be in place to receive and assess new or revised data, including airworthiness directives, and to incorporate applicable changes into the maintenance programme. The data management process must ensure traceability from the source data to the maintenance programme tasks.
Common compliance gaps
Using outdated maintenance data is a common and potentially serious compliance gap. Organisations sometimes fail to maintain active subscriptions to data services, resulting in revisions being missed. Another frequent finding is the absence of a formal process for assessing the applicability of newly issued service bulletins and determining whether they should be incorporated into the maintenance programme.
